Integrated mobile maternal health record survey in Côte d'Ivoire selected for a METI subsidy

Our project "Republic of Côte d'Ivoire: Survey on an Integrated Mobile Maternal and Child Health Record Application" was selected as a subsidised project under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Project Subsidy, from the FY2023 supplementary budget.

Smartphone ownership in Côte d'Ivoire has grown, particularly in urban areas, yet maternal mortality remains high and public medical records have not been digitised. This survey is the first step in extending to West Africa what we have built in Tanzania, and it examines how well our approach fits the country's institutions, culture, and health care setting.

We will use the findings to design a service that follows local health policy and user needs, with a view to expanding across French-speaking West Africa.
