Integrated mobile maternal health record demonstration in Tanzania selected for a METI subsidy

On 5 February 2026 our project "United Republic of Tanzania: Demonstration of an Integrated Mobile Maternal and Child Health Record Application" was selected for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Project Subsidy (small-scale demonstration and feasibility study), under the FY2024 supplementary budget.

The project examines and validates how a mobile maternal and child health record application can be introduced in Tanzania. It aims to build a sustainable foundation for maternal and child health by consolidating health information, strengthening the guidance health workers can give, and assembling the baseline data that maternal health policy requires.

Building on Taarifa za Mama, which we have deployed to date, we will advance the consolidation of maternal and child health data and the links between data sets. The aim is to reduce the workload on midwives and to improve mothers' understanding of their own health.
