Selected for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's SMEDO program, with field research to be conducted in the Philippines

On September 4, 2026, AfricanMothers Inc. was selected for support under the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's SMEDO project (Supporting business plan of Medical Equipment Development for Overseas based on local needs).

The program supports small and medium-sized enterprises based in Tokyo that are entering, or considering entering, medical device markets in ASEAN and other emerging economies. It helps them understand the real needs of healthcare professionals on the ground and build the networks that market development requires. The program is operated on behalf of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government by Japan Convention Services, Inc. Selected companies will visit the Republic of the Philippines (Metro Manila and surrounding areas) from November 2 to 6, 2026, to conduct field research at healthcare facilities and related organizations.

To date, AfricanMothers has provided and piloted an integrated mobile maternal and child health record application in the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire. Through this program, the company will explore the possibility of extending the maternal and child health expertise it has built in Africa to emerging markets in Asia.
